22 December 2023 - Nador-El Aroui airport records its first million-passenger milestone
Nador-El Aroui Airport reached its one millionth passenger for the first time. To mark the milestone, the Moroccan Airports Authority held a ceremony at Nador-El Aroui Airport to greet the one millionth passenger. ONDA handed gifts to this lucky passenger aboard Air Arabia Maroc flight 3O 122 from Amsterdam. With 956,790 passengers welcomed by the end of November 2023, Nador-El Aroui airport experienced record traffic, reflecting a 34% rise over the same period in 2019 and a 23% increase over 2022.
This performance was boosted by the addition of several new air routes connecting the airport to several European cities, including first-time destinations like Hamburg and Toulouse, as well as the introduction of charter flights to new markets like Portugal and the Czech Republic during the summer season.
In July 2021, Nador-El Aroui airport commissioned a new terminal with a capacity to handle 2 million passengers a year. This development project also included the extension of the aircraft parking area to accommodate three additional aircraft, the development of the vehicle parking area with a capacity of 580 spaces, and the development of outdoor areas.
