22 March 2022 - Kick-off meeting for Lean Six Sigma approach to improve customer experience at Casablanca-Mohammed V airport

Today, March 22, 2022, ONDA CEO Mrs. Habiba LAKLALECH chaired a meeting at Mohammed V Airport headquarters to launch the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) process re-engineering initiative. The meeting was attended by representatives of all airport partners involved in the airport's passenger value chain, including the National Security Department, the Ministry of Health, the Customs and Tax Administration, the Royal Gendarmerie, airlines, and handlers.

In her introductory speech, Mrs. LAKLALECH recalled that the objectives of the LSS approach, deployed in passenger handling processes, stem from our country's New Development Model, which calls for mobilization to build, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Morocco that all citizens collectively want, aiming to place Morocco in the top third of world rankings by 2035.

Indeed, the unique geographical position of the Casablanca Hub, together with the potential of the men and women who work there, gives Mohammed V Airport the assets needed to position itself among the best airports in the world.

In line with this vision, Mohammed V Airport, the Kingdom's number one airport, aims to further improve on the honorable results obtained during the various quality audits carried out by international bodies (ASQ/ACI, Skytrax). Mrs. LAKLALECH added: "These results are the fruit of the mobilization and commitment of all our stakeholders, to whom I pay special tribute. Thanks to your usual commitment, this LSS approach will enable us to place Mohammed V Airport among the top 100 airports in the world," insisted ONDA’s General Manager.

Following this address, the consultant in charge of the project gave a presentation explaining the approach and its positive short, medium, and long-term repercussions on improving the customer experience.

The LSS approach combines two methods, Lean and Six Sigma, which work together for the continuous improvement of service quality and customer satisfaction. It is, in fact, the fusion of two approaches that link the notions of productivity (Lean) and quality (Six Sigma). Implementing the LSS approach at Mohammed V Airport will eliminate wasted time and unnecessary activities at every stage of the process, ultimately reducing processing times and improving service quality while optimizing the use of resources.

The initial focus will be on the "international arrivals" process, aiming to reduce passenger dwell times and process variability by 20%. Achieving this operational performance target requires teamwork on the ground, combining the efforts of all the partners concerned.

This approach will be deployed before the summer season, in particular for the Marhaba 2022 operation. It will subsequently be extended to all passenger processing circuits, departure and transit, as well as to other Moroccan airports.

A multi-stakeholder project team has already been set up to ensure the effective deployment and successful completion of this project. The firm supporting ONDA in this ambitious project will also ensure the transfer of expertise through consulting, coaching, and training of staff.

The Moroccan Airports Authority and all its airport partners remain committed to offering travelers an excellent level of welcome and a most pleasant travel experience.
